Truth Lies Here By Michael Hirschorn - 887 Words

Everything is a lie. Every spoken word is false, every written text is fallacious, and every form of media is erroneous. The speed and ease of information sharing has allowed people to submit anything they want into the mass jumble of online data called the Web. In his article, â€Å"Truth Lies Here,† Michael Hirschorn argues that the Web has become a place of fabricated facts and because of the massive amount of false information on the internet, nobody believes anything. â€Å"[D]isturbances in politics and media feel like symptoms of a larger epistemological, even civilizational, rot† (Hirschorn 64). Though this article may support Hirschorn’s argument, it is not strong, to say the least. This article lacks originality nor is it informative, it does little in addressing the opposition, and it contains numerous logical fallacies. All in all, this article is not persuasive. Michael Hirschorn’s article, â€Å"Truth Lies Here,† depicts how the Web, with its many falsified facts, negatively affects those who read it and forces people to distrust all facts. Hirschorn largely focuses on how political figures use the Web to publish false facts to either improve their standings or to disparage their opponents. Though it may be enlightening and attention-grabbing, his article lacks original ideas, does not deal with the opposition, and it employs questionable logic. Hirschorn’s article may be fascinating to some however, the fact that the Web contains false information is unquestionable and

These cartels also have presence in the United States, which is negatively impacting our coun try because of their extreme violence and murderous acts. Many would argue that these criminal acts are also acts of terrorism. The convergence or nexus between terrorist groups and transnational crime has its foundation on the symbiotic link between the two. The convergence entails a dynamic that allows both entities to benefit financially. This convergence, which entails long-term and short-term agreements, exists along a continuum and its aim is to exchange expertise such as counterfeiting, bomb-making or money laundering, or operational support that enhances access to the smuggling routes (Piazza 299). I should have not discussed any personal issues that I was having with her or used those as an excuse as to why I did not return her phone call. I should have gone straight to apologizing for my mistake and resolving the issue. I feel as if Aretha was justified in how she treated me. She was frustrated and expressed it to me. I made her angrier over the situation by trying to excuse my actions instead of trying to find a resolution. Heat Attacks Essay Example For Students

Heat Attacks Essay Too Few Americans Take Aspirin to Prevent Second Heart AttackIn an article from Doctor Gilbert Ross of the American Council on Science and Health it was revealed that only 26% of former heart attack patients take aspirin on a regular basis to prevent a reoccurrence of heart disease. Harvard Medical School did a study of data collected between 1980 and 1996. (This was a time when the use of aspirin was shown to have benefits for those who suffer from heart disease. ) The percentage of aspirin uses rose 21%, up from 5%, between that 16 year period. While these results are a major improvement, the numbers are nowhere near what medical experts expected them to be. The regular intake of aspirin by heart disease patients has been proven to reduce the risk of blood clots, which are a major cause of heart attacks. The American Heart Association also recommends that people who suffer from unstable angina, a major warning sign of a heart attack which is characterized by sharp pain, take aspirin to reduce the chances of recurrent angina. Evidence of aspirins benefits is seen mostly in patients who already suffer from heart disease, but it has been proven that it helps patients to prevent it from ever occurring as well. Patients are advised not to take aspirin for this reason without first consulting a doctor. This is because taking aspirin too often can cause some side effects which include ulcers and allergic reactions. This is also a reason that some doctors think the numbers in the study were so low- doctors are not aware that their patients are taking aspirin since it is an over the counter drug. Doctors also do not consider reporting the use of over the counter drugs to a study. More people should look into taking aspirin though. Results show that death rates have gone down considerably over the past 40 years for patients suffering from all forms of heart disease. This is amazing considering the highest risk factors still are not being treated. These include smoking, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
